You know how there's those days where you just want to do this. It just feels good to give a fat little gopher a good squishin now and then :)
Some new images. Fully painted the plane to the best of my ability and now i'm thinking i'm gonna paint up some of the other planes. These were really fun to do. I can see why scott robertson enjoys vehicles so much.

THIS IS NOT MY PIECE, Favor for a friend

I didn't give the whole piece a makeover cause it would've took to long, but you can see i just pumped the contrast with the cart area. I outline the areas i wanted to overall deal with using the pen tool and then i went in and painted, and used the dodge tool to bring out some highlights. good luck man and keep up the awesome work.

Here's some new stuff i've been workin on...... can we say Scott Robertson... ugh... i'm trying some new techniques, seein whether or not i can do this stuff, render realistic, and yadda yadda yadda, trying not to get too pigeon holed. I dunno, just doodlin. I can confidently say though, it is fun, and i'm eager to see what will land on paper next.
Oh if anybody has any advice or, just plane, hey try this, please lemme know. word.
Oh yeah almost forgot, these are all works in progress, it's a long road to painted finish, but i look forward to the finish :) sweet!

These are some new doodles I did. Good fun.
I'm hoping to take some of these to full color and even further exploration. Some of these are part of a larger story. There are definite influences. The typ for the gamblers is influenced by Tim Burton films and type. The Goat is a mix of ideas I've seen from my friends, Emperor's (sp?)new groove. some recent inspirations to draw more are my coworkers and inparticular some ground breaking artists Sean "cheeks" Galloway and dreamworks's Nicolas Marlet, who if you haven't heard of either of these two half man half amazing artists I really recommend them. Beautiful sense of style, and technique is solid.

Landscapes

These are just two of a few chinese landsacapes I did. I was researching Fu Xien to see where possibly my family heritage came from, since I'm 5 generations deep in Taiwan. With the language barrier and the lack of relative resources I tried to find out whether my family were originally farmers or fishers. No luck though. So i Just toyed around with the ink brush pen to instead. No where near as beautiful as true brush painters, but it was a fun experience. I'm pretty happy with the results though. Hope you guys like it too.

So this was randomly burped outta the brain. But the whole bit about culture just got me thinkin bout how there are those people out there that WANT to be percieved as "cultured" and how funny they are, with their abrassive "I have seen the world attitude" big deal, i love culture and I really love just knowing random cultural tidbits, mostly to entertain and humor myself. So yeah... dunno where the soap box came from so i'll step down now and quietly pack the wooden crate away.

THANKSGIVING... YAY!!!!!

Alright, It's been awhile, but I just wanted to post something. These are a few random things i've been workin on. It has been busy at work and finishing up this semester, but still workin on stories and ideas. these are for inspiration and from inspiration. The chick with the scythe is actually supposed to be..." lil miss muffet who sat on a tuffet brooding bout having her way, along came lil bo peep with all her sheep and chop chop is all she had to say." partly inspired by a past story way back that i was doin to just jostle things up and have a more adult twisted side to all those ol nursery ryhmes. It has a dash of those good ol brothers grimms and recently after seeing some INCREDIBLE previews of Pan's Labyrinth it has been time to do it again. The ribs, well just ribs, it was a piece of a collage i was going to put together, but decided i didnt' need them, but they look tasty and hey ribs are good, YUM.
Well happy THANKSGIVING and hope everyone at least did something to unwind a bit and to enjoy this life we live. Take care and Best :)

Dragon Balloon

Here's a bday card I was working on. now I just wanna finish it up and tweak it into a better piece. It's inspired by images from Andreas Blasich's short story in "Out of Picture" and some clouds studies i've been seein people do, and I've always been fascinated with ho air balloons so why not and chicks with wispy hair. So far it's been good fun and i'm finally gettin over my fear and just goin at it with this whole painting thing. Good fun, i am really enjoying photoshop painting now. Still miss the traditional, but digital is really easier.

Some random stuff. The Painting was about 20 mins. I was thinkin back and was like hey that's not bad for 20 mins. Too bad I haven't built up the stamina and confidence to finish, but working towards it. And the doodle is just a doodle. good times :)

Hobo Lady 2

Just another drawing of hobo lady
I thought it would be nice to have two pets, a cat and a bird just to add diversity to the scene and her character.
I'm beginning to think she will be my main character and we would be viewing the world through her eyes. She had an open mind about things and sees the world as an endless adventure and source of happiness, the conflict within herself though would be her desire, since she is 42, to settle down and just find a place she can call home.

The librarian and the HOBO

Hey ya'll. These are some new drawings. The librarian is a addition to the Time travelers, it is his book of history and what needs to be repaired. The hobo lady is a new idea i'm toying around with. Just trying to think of something fun to do with hobos, they're the dirtiest and most rugged adventurers of our day now and they're all sorts, stow aways, river folk, hitch hikers, all the sorts, so just seeing where this idea could take me. Plus since they travel a lot they may have some really interesting ambiguous sillouettes to play around with. This may give me a chance to really toy around with different styles too.

COLOR

So here are some recent color additions to the good ol folio. What fun. I had a good time coloring these. I am still intimidated by full matte paintings, but these definitely help with conquering that fear. Especially with the help of Illustrator. I find Illustrator to be so much funner and faster. Using all the big shapes. It's like putting a puzzle together. At work that's all we pretty much use.
